Every tent in the EXPED line has a specific reason for being. In the case of the Gemini series, it’s about merging three things: high internal volume, excellent ventilation and strength. To achieve this, we cranked up the innovation machine and created another signature EXPED tent architectural style. Four pole sections are inserted into sleeves from the apex of the tent, creating two carefully tensioned, double-crossing pole lengths. This unique structure simultaneously achieves a high, peaked door on each side, steep walls and an extremely taught, free-standing pitch. It also allows the user to stand in one place during set-up and pole insertion; just a spin of the tent positions the opposite apex for tensioning.
Because of their airy mesh canopy, Gemini’s are in our 3-season line-up, but the pole structure has proven itself to have the strength of a 4-season shelter. So it’s a great choice for early and late season as well as full, warm summer conditions. And because of the near-vertical walls and large internal space, Gemini’s excel at bridging the divide between backpacking and car camping tents. Two tall, teardrop-shaped doors make entry and exit a not-so-stooped-over experience. Two roomy vestibules stow gear and allow ventilation through the lidded outer doors - even in pouring rain!
Three versions are available: Gemini II, III and IV, for two, three and four adults respectively. The Gemini IV will accommodate two of EXPED’s duo size sleeping mats or four medium sized solo mats. And with four people on a trip, its per-person weight remains just over 2 lbs. Materials have been chosen with durability and weatherproofing in mind: 70-denier nylon floors hold a 5,000mm water column and the fly is built with silicone/polyurethane-coated , 30-denier ripstop nylon.
Ride out the rainstorm or stargaze in a bug-free haven; Gemini tents deliver on our promise of comfort anywhere.
