Product Description
FIRM • SOFT • PLUSH • LUXURY
DeepSleep Mat provides an eco-friendly blend of support, warmth, and durability. It’s low profile and generous sleeping surface cater to those who prioritize value without sacrificing comfort.
With 3 inches of solid foam, DeepSleep provides a high level of insulation against the cold ground and provides a more firm sleep surface. Dial in your exact firmness further by using the included Top-Up Pump to add more air or by opening the valve to purge excess air.
PRO TIP:
It may sound counterintuitive, but if you find that your camping mat is just a little too hard, use the inflate valve to purge excess air. By opening the valve and pressing gently on the one-way flapper, you can release controlled bursts of air to reach the exact firmness you want. If you open the extra-large deflate valve, you may find yourself losing more air than you anticipated and need to top off your mat again.
What does a "firm" comfort experience mean?
DeepSleep provides firm, body-supporting comfort in a lighter, more compact package than its fellow camping mats in the EXPED lineup.
It is ideal for back sleepers and those who sleep on a firmer mattress at home.
Features
-
3" mattress height
3" of solid foam keeps sleeper comfortable and insulated against the cold ground while also allowing for more overhead space when used in a tight space such as a vehicle.
-
3D vertical sidewalls
Our signature 3D vertical sidewall construction maximizes the available sleep area & reduces tapering at the edges.
-
Durable surface material
100% recycled, brushed polyester surface material is soft, comfortable, and durable.
-
Self-inflating
Open the inflate valve to self-inflate & top up with the included Top-Up Pump accessory to dial in your firmness.
-
High warmth rating
Solid open-cell polyurethane foam provides body support and a high level of insulation from the cold ground.
-
Included accessories
The updated DeepSleep Mat now comes with a temporary repair kit and Top-Up Pump, just like our other camping mats.
DeepSleep Technology
A tried-and-true foam core is at the center of this mat.
DeepSleep features 3" of solid open-cell foam (no air channels) for a more firm sleep experience that is ideal for back sleepers. This mat has a lower profile paired with an eco-friendly blend of support, warmth, and durability.
FAQs
What is R-value?
R-value is a measure of thermal resistance. It indicates the efficiency of insulation by measuring its resistance to heat transfer. The higher the number, the slower the rate of heat transfer through an insulation.
In EXPED sleeping mats, higher R-values help sleepers retain the heat their bodies generate and the result is the pleasant and sometimes elusive condition called warmth!
Can I use an electric pump to inflate my mat or pillow?
You can use any EXPED electric pump, such as the Widget or Mega Pump, to inflate your mat. The power level of our pumps are within an appropriate range to where they are unlikely to damage your mat.
We do not recommend the use of any electric pumps other than our own as using too powerful of a pump can overinflate your mat and cause irreparable damage.
What do I do if my MegaMat isn't inflating on its own?
When our mats are stored in a compressed state for prolonged periods, the interior foam gets used to its compressed (rolled-up) shape and can cause sluggish self-inflation of the mat.
We also like to point out (since many overlook it) that the mats come with an “inflation wedge” (looks like a zipper pull) piece next to the inflate valve. This is designed to be inserted between the plastic valve wall and the green silicone “flapper” seal to create an adequate gap for air to enter the mat. If your mat’s foam seems compressed, filling the pad to full inflation (until the mat is firm) and leaving it inflated for a few hours should be enough to de-compress the memory foam and restore the mat's self-inflating ability for subsequent uses.
How do I clean my mat?
The first step is to make sure all valves are fully closed. We recommend cleaning your mat with warm water and a mild soap. Do not use bleach to clean your mat. If needed, you can use a rag or soft sponge to carefully scrub the mat.
After using soap, rinse it well. The mat should air dry after cleaning. Do not put your mat in a washing machine or dryer.
How should I store my mat?
Store your mat in a cool, dry place, unrolled with the valves open and out of reach of pets with claws.
Rooftop Tents:
It’s fine to use and store the mat in a rooftop tent while on a trip, but in warmer climates, we recommend leaving the valve caps open during the daytime as a precaution so that the mat cannot overinflate from the heat of sun exposure.
In general, it's good to keep the mat somewhere cool and dark to minimize damage from excessive heat or UV radiation. It’s also best not to keep your mat in a rooftop tent year round for long-term storage.
